Award-winning DJ and radio personality Lamiez Holworthy is back home after her management last week said she was rushed to hospital for an “emergency surgical procedure”.
Holworthy shared the news of her discharge on social media, reflecting on the scare and the fragility of life, while expressing gratitude for the support she received from her loved ones and supporters.
“The past few days have been scary and painful beyond words, but God showed up for me in ways that I cannot fathom nor explain,” she wrote in one post. “I nearly died. I nearly lost my life and probably would’ve if I hadn’t been rushed to the hospital on Sunday. All this seven minutes away from the next venue and six more gigs left.
“The biggest lesson that I learnt? To listen to my body and that there is no honour in working yourself to death. What good would all that hard work be if I were dead?”
Before her hospitalisation, on Saturday, Holworthy was seen speaking at the Women’s Day Business & Fashion Fest 2026 at the Central University of Technology in Bloemfontein. The event formed part of Free State Fashion Week.
“I’m back home and have overcome the worst. My body fought hard, I fought hard,” she continued. “I’ll be taking time off to heal and reconnect.”
On her Instagram stories, Holworthy also thanked her supporters for their love and support during a time when she said she nearly died twice in the space of hours because of the amount of blood she lost.
“My husband, parents, siblings, children and all my loved ones deserve a happier and healthier version of me,” she wrote.
