As expected, CES 2023 was a big stage for new SSDs in the PCIe 5.0 standard. After we already saw the first prototypes last year, manufacturer MSI in particular comes forward again with the new MSI Spatium M570 Pro and realizes read and write speeds of up to 12 GB/s.
Among the MSI news at CES 2023 was already a PCIe 5.0 SSD with read and write speeds of 10 GB/s, the Spatium M570. However, the Pro model tops it off and becomes 2 GB/s faster. In total, the MSI Spatium M570 Pro enables speeds of up to 12 GB/s.
It comes in the M.2-2280 format and uses the new Phison E26 controller, which supports PCIe 5.0 x4 and NVMe 2.0. The fast Micron B58R TLC memory is responsible for these high speeds, which the manufacturer proudly presents using the CrystalDisk benchmark.
The rates definitely look more than impressive. Just under 12.3 GB/s read and 11.8 GB/s write are definitely a house number.
Tom’s Hardware was able to examine the new SSD in the flesh at the trade show and provides first pictures. Visually, the Pro model reminds us a bit of the M570, but it has a much bigger heat sink. No wonder, such high speeds have to be tamed first.
The MSI Spatium M570 Pro, like the non-Pro variant, will apparently be offered in sizes of 1 TB, 2 TB and 4 TB – the 2 TB model was used for the test, but it is still unclear whether the speeds vary in the other capacities.
Likewise, we do not yet know how much the MSI Spatium M570 Pro PCIe 5.0 SSD will cost, nor when it will be available in stores. The SSD will certainly be expensive – even though the SSD prices have dropped noticeably in the meantime.
