Free tutorial: Blender Hard-Surface Modeling Techniques

The Gnomon Workshop has released Blender Hard-Surface Modeling Techniques, a free guide to detailing mechanical models, recorded by concept artist Bryant Momo Koshu.

The intermediate-level workshop provides 30 minutes of video training in Blender.

A concise guide to adding surface detail to models in Blender
For artists working in game development, visual effects or animation, elevating hard-surface designs from acceptable quality to a professional level depends heavily on final detailing.

In his highly focused workshop, Momo Koshu shares the tricks he uses to enhance hard-surface models, using Blender to add nuts, bolts, panel lines and cables.

As well as Blender itself, the workshop uses two popular commercial add-ons, DECALmachine and Cablerator.

About the artist
Bryant Momo Koshu is a concept artist with over a decade of experience at game development studios including Konami, Skydance Interactive, Deviation Games and Survios.

He creates tutorials and workshops focused on workflows in Blender, Substance 3D Modeler, and photobashing techniques, to support emerging artists in developing their skills.
