The Ministry of Health, through the Health Surveillance Directorate, reported during epidemiological week eight of the year 2023, which spans from February 19 to 25, 2023, a deceased person was diagnosed with Mpox, he is a Costa Rican, a 30-year-old male.

The patient was hospitalized in a medical centre and had a history of several underlying pathologies, among them he had received the diagnosis of Mpox 19 days before death, the health centre is awaiting the hospital autopsy.

It is important to indicate that, in the first weeks of the year, there has been a downward trend in confirmed cases, with a peak in epidemiological week six, which reported 16 confirmed cases.
