Preview: United v West Ham – Man Utd

Manchester United are back at Old Trafford this weekend, when David Moyes’s West Ham United side are the visitors for Sunday afternoon’s Premier League clash.

The 14:00 GMT kick-off in M16 is just our second home outing of 2024, and the first for exactly three weeks, following the 2-2 draw with Tottenham on 14 January.

Erik ten Hag’s team can leapfrog our opponents and go into the top six in the table with a win, in a game at which the upcoming 66th anniversary of the Munich Air Disaster will be poignantly marked.

Below is information on how you can watch and follow the fixture, the latest team news and more.

HOW TO WATCH AND FOLLOW

You will be able to enjoy over an hour of exclusive pre-match build-up by tuning into MUTV’s Matchday Live show, on air from Old Trafford at 12:55 GMT.

It will also be available via ManUtd.com and the United App, where, as well as that, you can also see matchday interviews, live stats and updates from the ground via our Match Centre.

Radio commentary will also be available across our official platforms, while short match highlights will be published exactly two hours after the final whistle. Extended versions will be viewable on demand from the early hours of Monday morning.

Supporters residing in the UK will be able to watch the game live on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League.

TEAM NEWS

The Reds’ matchday squad could be bolstered by the return of Sofyan Amrabat from Africa Cup of Nations duty with Morocco. The midfielder is expected to return to training on Saturday.

There is a possibility defensive duo Victor Lindelof and Aaron Wan-Bissaka could also be back for United, although Ten Hag is definitely not expecting to have Tyrell Malacia and Mason Mount to call upon this Sunday.

Like Amrabat, West Ham defender Nayef Aguerd is in contention to play following his AFCON exploits with Morocco, while full-back Vladimir Coufal could be reintegrated into the side after serving a suspension.

THE OPPONENTS

Sunday’s visitors come into the game one place (sixth) and one point (36) ahead of United in the league table, following their 1-1 draw with Bournemouth on Thursday night.

That game was actually the latest on the Hammers’ six-game unbeaten run in the competition – Moyes’s men have not lost since a 5-0 defeat at Fulham in December.

That streak has featured victories over Arsenal and United, 2-0 in the reverse fixture, but they have drawn their last three outings.

Jarrod Bowen (14) and Mohammed Kudus (10) are into double figures for goals this season and are both set to play a part at Old Trafford, having each been in the XI that faced Bournemouth. It’s the first time both players have started alongside one another since the victory at Arsenal in December, largely in part due to Kudus’s recent international commitments.

FORM GUIDE

As mentioned above, West Ham are without a loss in their last six Premier League games, although they have exited the Emirates FA Cup while on their unbeaten run, after a replay at Bristol City.

Like Ten Hag’s team, they are yet to lose in the league this year, drawing each of their three January games.

Erik’s Reds have only played twice in the league since the end of December, following up the Tottenham meeting by beating Wolves 4-3 on Thursday.

United also registered wins over Newport County and Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup last month, ensuring progression to the fifth round, where we will face Nottingham Forest or Bristol City.
