Hundreds of attendees shopped, ate and even got tattooed at the Utah State Fairpark on Saturday as a part of Craft Lake City’s 14th annual DIY fest.
The festival featured over 330 local artisans, vendors and exhibitors at booths set up across the crowded park. Some vendors offered items like local honey — with live bees present — and others offered hand-drawn photo booth-style portraits or henna tattoos.

Ariel Greiner hosted a booth featuring handmade plant accessories from her Etsy shop, Laurel and Twine. Greiner said she originally started making hanging plant stands to keep her plants safe from her cat — and it turned into a business once others wanted their own hanging plant havens.
“It’s been steadily busy, so it’s been really fun to talk to everyone and such,” Greiner said. “The community has been absolutely just amazing. Everyone is just so nice and supportive, and it’s just really cool to be a part of a community that wants to support local artisans.”
Other vendors featured cultural wares, like Marina Rusca’s Incamay Style booth. Rusca sold wide-brimmed hats with bright patterns, woven baskets and handmade jewelry of all kinds during Saturday’s festival.
Rusca said her booth’s items were handcrafted with sustainability in mind, and made by women who weave recycled wool and alpaca fibers.
“I come from Honduras — Central America — and my husband is from Peru — South America — that’s the reason I decided to start involving my roots,” Rusca said. “All the vendors are really unique and beautiful.”
Craft Lake City’s 2022 DIY fest runs from Aug. 12 to Aug. 14. Weekend tickets are $7 in advance and $10 for day-of.
