A DIY-SAVVY homeowner has amazed people with the accent wall she added to her drab entryway.
She showed the entire process of making the eye-catching accent wall for her home.
Accent walls have regained popularity in recent years with homeowners eager to express their personality.
The design choice that creates a focal point can make a room feel bigger or add more dimension to a large space, according to decorating company Pinnacle.
A TikTok user posting under the handle @improvdiary has garnered over 14,000 followers by sharing her home improvement projects.
She unexpectedly went viral on the app after revealing how she made an accent wall for her entryway.
She bought the “cheapest” wooden strips in the size 1 X 2 and then cut them to fit her wall height.
She showed the process of staining the furring strips in the color Red Oak from Miniwax before drilling them into the wall vertically.
She painted a gray color next to the feature, which she said was Iron Mountain by Behr.
Meanwhile, the main wall color was City Loft by Sherwin Williams.
She attached 15ft LED strip lights behind the half-moon mirror bought from Pottery Barn before connecting them to box lights sold on Amazon for $45.99.
She didn’t reveal the brand of LED lights used but the budget-friendly items can be found on Amazon for just $11.99.
Over 10,000 customers have bought them from the retailer in the past month.
The TikToker said both lighting features had to be hardwired through an outlet under the shelf seen alongside the accent wall.
The impressive results of the DIY project racked up almost 57,000 likes and many comments.
“Looks amazing, thanks for sharing I’m going to do this for my entryway I love,” one person said.
“I remember when an accent wall was just a wall that was a different color than the other three walls,” another commented.
“This is beautiful.”
Interior designer Judy Hoang shared her furniture tips with The U.S. Sun.
“Jaw dropped!!! That’s awesome,” a third chimed in.
“That’s gorgeous!! I wish I was this creative,” a fourth wrote.
“How did you get the mirror to stick?” another said.
“I attached it to the strips that had studs behind them,” the TikToker replied.
She revealed that it cost her less than $500 to complete the project.
