Police have watched fresh security footage of the moments just before a man was fatally shot in a Manhattan deli.
According to authorities, a fight broke out between two males inside a shop at 144 Nagel Avenue at about 4 o’clock.
Tykeem Berry, 30, the victim, was shot in the chest. His nine-year-old daughter was with him at the time and witnessed the entire affair.
“I don’t want her father’s murder to be witnessed by the kids. She may be impacted in the future. She may experience issues. We, therefore, kept her indoors. We gave her Coke and whatever else she requested. We spoke with her,” The proprietor of the shop said.
abc7 New York has shared the footage with the public:
The guy is seen on the CCTV footage exiting the bodega as there is a dispute, his hand in his green coat. Berry was shot by the suspect after he was later charged back into the shop.
Berry reportedly had 19 past charges, and authorities are investigating whether or not this was a random altercation or whether it had anything to do with the shooting.
After the encounter, the man, who seemed to be in his 20s, fled north on Nagle Avenue toward Dyckman Street.
The young victim’s daughter was unharmed. The inquiry is ongoing, and no one has been taken into custody yet.
