A DIY fan’s front stoop makeover has gone viral after she shared it on TikTok.
Her technique was unconventional because she was too cheap to buy a painting tray.
But the result was stunning and Em Design (@house.of.eddieolive) loved how it came out.
So did viewers, with over 318,000 tuning in to see this transformation.
She showed off the front stoop in her post, provoking porch envy.
But her idea was within the realms of the most inept of DIYers.
But first, you have to do the preparation work.
This may take up some time, but it will be time well invested if you want a polished finish to this project.
Items you will need:
First, you need to prepare the stoop area.
Use a jet wash to remove any residual stains.
Once the area is dry, now you are ready to paint. But this could be messy.
Use porch and patio paint for this job. But our DIY-er didn’t bother with one element.
“Just pour the paint because I’m just too cheap to buy another paint tray,” she said.
So, she tipped the paint straight onto the area and used a roller to distribute it.
Once the paint is dry, start mapping out a chequered pattern every 12 inches all the way around.
Use a pencil and measuring tape, with a wooden ruler, and then mark the areas with tape.
Then paint alternate squares with black paint.
Interior designer Judy Hoang shared her furniture tips with The U.S. Sun.
With the chequered floor pattern complete, you can style your new-looking porch to your heart’s content.
Commenters loved it.
“Looks great. I would have poured the paint out too,” said one person.
“I feel this energy through my screen. Such a stunning front porch,” said another.
“Good vibes,” wrote a third person.
