The sunshine is finally here and as tempretures are set to get warmer next week you may have already started to notice ants in their droves.

As the insect seems to get EVERYWHERE it is no wonder people go to extreme lengths to get rid of them.

However, while there are many products out there, one cleaning expert has shared the best to way to say goodbye to them for good.

Nancy Emery has shared her top tips, collaborating with kitchen and bathroom specialist Tap Warehouse, in how to get them out of your home for good.

Even better she said that you don’t need to spend a fortune in doing so.

Emery suggests covering up any food that is left out as this is what ants are drawn to.

And it’s no wonder as the pests can lay up to 800 eggs a day once they are in your home.

The cleaning pro also suggests wiping down any surfaces or kitchen countertops. Sometimes food crumbs can get left behind and this can be another hotbed for ants.

Emery recommends using fresh lemon peel at each entry point with the smell putting ants off from coming into your home.

A four-pack of lemons will cost you 95p from Asda and is a natural solution without the need for harsh chemicals.

That means it costs just under 24p each time you do this handy hack.

The cleaning expert also has a DIY insecticide which you can also make yourself at home.

All you have to do is dilute 10-15 drops of peppermint oil in clean, warm water and mix them together well.

Put the mixture into a spray bottle and use it in any areas in which ants are prone.

For those who are looking to create the spray, you can get your hands on peppermint oil for £2.97 from Amazon.

Thankfully ants were not the only pests that Emery shared her top tips on, she shared other insets too.

Maggots

These often be found in your bins so make sure to give it a good scrub using hot soapy water. Then leave it out to dry before adding anything in.

Another tip is to add coffee grounds to the bottom of your bin which can absorb any stench and prevent maggots from returning.

Silverfish

You will have probably seen them appear in the kitchen or the bathroom, as silverfish love moisture and hot tempretures.

However, natural ingredients such as cinnamon and citrus peel can stop them from making an appearance again.

You can also hoover and ventilate the room to remove any dampness from the home to help get rid of them.

Wasps

Peppermint oil also works for wasps.

But this time you will need to make a different solution by adding two tablespoons of dish soap to create your own wasp deterant.

Mosquitos

Annoying as they are mosquitos are pretty easy to get rid of.

All you have to do is cut half a lemon and add cloves into them to give an extra citrusy smell that these pests loathe.
